Golf Assessment
Research shows that force seven times your weight can affect the spine during the swing.
Shoulder impingement can limit your backswing.
Decreased hip mobility can create increased torsion to your knees and lumbar spine.
Many adults lack the flexibility, mobility and strength needed to golf. What is GOLF Fit?
GOLF FIT is a unique program where a physical therapist who has been specifically trained to
analyze the biomechanics and movements necessary for an effective golf swing, assesses you from head to toe.
When a dysfunction is found, the therapist will guide you in how to correct most issues to help you develop an
effective, pain free swing, safely and naturally. Have a golf pro? If not, we do work together with PGA and
LPGA professionals whom we can recommend.
What occurs during a Golf Fit Evaluation?
Our therapist evaluates your swing and your body. First your swing is videotaped to determine if excess twisting and shearing forces are being placed on your spine, too much stress on your shoulders, or shearing through your knees. At that point the physical therapist will perform a head to toe examination to make sure you have enough range of motion, mobility, flexibility, and strength to be able to play without injuring your body. If limitations are seen either by the golf-pro or the PT, the proper course of treatment to best benefit you is determined. It may be that physical therapy is needed, or just some lessons with the pro. Many times though, both are necessary to make the most of your swing mechanics. If you already have a golf pro, but your body won't let you do what they are expecting, then the Golf Fit Assessment will be performed by just the therapist.
